The project involved the design and supply of an external bespoke structural hanger system, supporting slab corners of a new 43 storey multi-use building, in central London, UK.

Design

150 Bishopsgate London, a 43-storey tower will comprise 190 hotel guestrooms/suites and 120 residences, along with conference and banqueting facilities, meeting and events spaces, a gym, spa and swimming pool.

The new development, adjacent to Heron Tower, includes a major hotel, residences, retail and a substantial new public open space for London.

OYS was commisioned by Expanded Limited to design and manufacture an external stainless steel hanger system to provide effective structural support between the main elevation’s glazed facades and floor slabs.

Working in partnership with WSP, our interaction was driven by the design intent of PLP Architecture to ensure the provision of a compact hanger system, which provides clean lines and an aesthetically pleasing solution to the end client.

The OYS unique and bespoke system offers single point connection at each floor level for joining vertical, diagonal and horizontal tension members to one node and pin arrangement, negating the need for unsightly connection plates.

In addition, by bringing the method of tensioning and/or adjustment back to the main connection node, it allows for unrestricted views from the glazed facade providing a more aesthetically pleasing solution, as per the Architect’s orginal brief.
